The Stafford Air & Space Museum is one of the most impressive museums in America. A few miles down Route 66 outside Oklahoma City sits the town of Weatherford, Oklahoma, the birthplace of General Thomas Stafford. Tom, to his neighbors, or more formally, the General. It seems that everyone in this town knew him, and they all loved and respected him—as well as they should. He is one of the 24 men to have walked on the moon.
He was head of the Astronaut Corp and a Gemini pilot, too. But even more than that, he lived in Weatherford and poured his soul into the town and surrounding area.
The Stafford Air and Space Museum is impressive. When we arrived, we were greeted by a remarkable staff who gave us an exclusive tour of the museum and grounds, which was truly spectacular.
An enthusiastic and informed crowd enjoyed refreshments and engaged our team in a spirited conversation after the film.
Joining Bill and Todd on the dais: Jeff Carr, Jerry Carr’s son, and Mitch Rothman of NASA Manned Space.
